Takeru Amano’s “Garden of Venus” Arrives at Top City A13 Taipei

Following Breakout Success in Beijing and Shanghai, the Exhibition Ignites a New Dialogue Between Contemporary Art and Lifestyle in Taipei

On April 18, 2026, Japanese contemporary artist Takeru Amano will present his solo exhibition Garden of Venus at Top City A13 in Taipei’s Xinyi District. Curated by Gin Huang Gallery, the exhibition continues the artist’s rapidly growing presence across the Asian market, transforming a prime urban retail setting into an immersive environment where art, fashion, and lifestyle converge.

Prior to its Taipei debut, Amano’s exhibitions in Beijing and Shanghai generated significant attention. During these presentations, images of the works and exhibition scenes spread widely across social media platforms such as Xiaohongshu (RED), accumulating tens of millions of views and sparking discussions among a new generation of collectors, fashion insiders, and lifestyle audiences. This cross-disciplinary resonance highlights a broader cultural shift in which contemporary art becomes not only an object of viewing, but a language of everyday experience and identity.

Garden of Venus continues this trajectory, centering on Amano’s iconic depictions of women. Defined by clean lines and highly saturated colors, his figures balance visual simplicity with emotional intensity. These “Venuses” are no longer rooted in classical mythology, but instead embody the spirit of contemporary femininity—independent, confident, and full of vitality—reflecting evolving perspectives on identity in today’s world.

The exhibition adopts red as its dominant visual language, creating an enveloping and emotionally charged spatial experience. Red symbolizes passion, love, and life force, while the recurring motif of the white horse represents courage and freedom—together forming the conceptual core of the exhibition.

The presentation includes original paintings, limited-edition prints, and a range of collectible works. Among them, the sculpture Venus with Cat is introduced in two scales—26 cm and 120 cm—responding to diverse spatial and collecting contexts.

A key highlight of the exhibition is the limited-edition print Venus and White Horse, created by Amano specifically for the Year of the Horse. The work combines his signature female figure with the symbolic image of the white horse, expressing themes of courage, freedom, and forward movement. Set against a vivid red background, the composition conveys emotional intensity and dynamic energy.

Produced using iridescent glitter and matte UV printing techniques, the print reveals layered visual effects that shift under changing light conditions, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and collectible value. Released in a strictly limited edition, the work carries both artistic significance and market rarity, while also echoing the auspicious symbolism of the Year of the Horse—speed, success, and momentum—making it one of the most sought-after highlights of the exhibition.

Extending beyond the traditional exhibition format, Garden of Venus also introduces an artist-branded collectible whisky, pairing aged Scotch whisky with Amano’s visual language. This crossover between art and lifestyle further embodies the concept of “Art as a Lifestyle,” positioning art as an integral part of contemporary living.

More than a continuation of Amano’s rising market presence in Asia, Garden of Venus reflects a broader evolution in contemporary art—one that transcends mediums and spaces, entering everyday life and cultural experience. In the heart of Taipei’s Xinyi District, the exhibition invites audiences to engage in a renewed dialogue on femininity, visual culture, and contemporary aesthetics.
