These artistic vocabularies embody cultural heritage, personal experience, and creative philosophy, allowing works of art to communicate across geographical and cultural boundaries.

For ART TAIPEI 2026, Gin Huang Gallery presents Visual Languages, bringing together five contemporary artists from Russia, Poland, Germany, and Japan: Anna Berezovskaya, Igor Dobrowolski, Van Ray, Taku Obata, and Takeru Amano.

Centered on the development and transformation of individual visual languages, the exhibition explores how artists draw upon their respective cultural contexts to establish distinctive forms of artistic expression. Spanning painting, metal relief, wood sculpture, and street art, the presentation highlights the diversity of materials, techniques, and creative perspectives that shape contemporary artistic practice.

Anna Berezovskaya | Russia

Russian artist Anna Berezovskaya constructs imaginative pictorial worlds through poetic allegories, symbolic compositions, and nuanced layers of color. Combining literary narratives with surrealist sensibilities, her paintings explore the intersections of memory, emotion, and time through intricate relationships between figures, natural elements, and spatial arrangements.

Igor Dobrowolski | Poland

Polish artist Igor Dobrowolski explores materiality and spirituality through abstract painting and gold reliefs. Richly textured surfaces, metallic luminosity, and sculptural structures allow light to become an essential compositional element, revealing multiple dimensions of human emotion, lived experience, and existence.

Van Ray | Germany

German artist Van Ray incorporates street art, graffiti culture, and Pop Art influences into his practice, establishing a highly recognizable visual identity through vibrant colors, typography, and popular cultural symbols. Combining humor with social observation, his works explore the dynamic relationship between contemporary urban culture and consumer society.

Taku Obata | Japan

Japanese artist Taku Obata draws upon traditional woodcarving techniques to translate the physical movements of B-boy dance culture into sculptural form. Through exaggerated bodily proportions, distinctive clothing silhouettes, and rhythmically charged poses, his sculptures explore the relationship between the human body, spatial dynamics, and contemporary street culture.

Takeru Amano | Japan

Japanese artist Takeru Amano brings together classical figurative traditions, popular culture, and a refined visual vocabulary to reinterpret iconic female imagery. Characterized by fluid contours, vibrant colors, and carefully distilled compositions, his works reflect the convergence of traditional aesthetics and popular culture within contemporary Japanese art.

Together, the five artists present distinct approaches to narrative, materiality, symbolism, movement, and form. Their individual yet highly recognizable visual languages resonate within a shared exhibition space, creating a compelling dialogue between European and Asian contemporary artistic practices.

For this year’s presentation, Gin Huang Gallery places particular emphasis on spatial clarity and the visual relationships between artworks, creating a thoughtful dialogue between painting and sculpture through variations in scale, material, color, and spatial rhythm.

Through Visual Languages, the gallery invites visitors to engage with the formal qualities and intricate details of each work, gain deeper insight into the artists’ individual creative perspectives, and discover the evolving possibilities of contemporary art through diverse cultural and artistic expressions.

Gin Huang Gallery presents Visual Languages at ART TAIPEI 2026, featuring five contemporary artists from Europe and Japan.
