Hong Kong-based art toy dealer How2work is gearing up to launch an open edition series of figures designed by Yoshitomo Nara. Titled 123 Drumming Girls, the pieces feature Nara\u2019s recognizable child-like characters in playful drummers\u2019 uniforms with the numbers \u201c1.\u201d \u201c2,\u201d and \u201c3\u201d embellished on their respective caps.<\/span><\/p>\n

The prototype of this toy is a work “Three Sisters” created by Yoshitomo Nara in 2007, featuring three iconic girls of Yoshitomo Nara who are learning to play drums with hats. This work was once auctioned at Christie\u2019s Hong Kong in 2012 together with another canvas work “Hothouse” Doll (the work with a brown background in the room below). The estimated price was 6.5-8.5 million Hong Kong dollars, and the final sale price was HKD 11.3 million.<\/span><\/p>\n
